Default ETX base

Hello everyone,

I have an ETX 1st. version that does not have the current motorized
base with the contact for a controller. Would anyont know where I
could buy just the base, not the whole telescope, please? Thank you.

Sincerely,

André Luiz

Hi:

Best bet? Keep an eye on Astromart (http://astromart.com) and also
check http://www.astronomy-mall.com/teletrade/ and
http://www.telescope-warehouse.com/default.html?aspxerrorpath=/products.aspx...

A number of comments.
First, there is more than one 'motorised base'. There is the 'R' version,
which has simple motorisation, with a tracking motor, and drives, and the
latter version that can accept the Autostar hand controller.
Second, the 'base' alone, is not enough. You need the correct fork arms
for _your_ OTA. So (for instance), the 'base' for an ETX-90, will not fit
an ETX105.
So you need to advertise, stating which OTA you have, on something like
AstroMart, where you may find somebody who has (for instance), removed the
tube from such an assembly, to use it on another mount, and has the 'base'
for sale. That having been said, it may well be both easier, and cheaper,
to sell your scope, and buy a complete new unit.

Best Wishes
