I am just getting started on this.

I went to the Ranch on Saturday and shot this Saturday night.

I only got 2h 40 minutes total exposure so it is a bit dim right now

While it looks a bit like SH2-212 I did it is really a heck of a lot
fainter. That is very good for only 40 minutes on something that faint!
I put off doing that one it was so faint.

Though last night I put 3 hours in on something even fainter. It has no
narrow band emission as it is glowing dust not gas. I need several more
nights. 3 hours was all I had between moon set and dawn. Worse tonight
of course. Skies don't look promising either. Good luck on getting
more photons on this Sharpless target.

Smoke a problem at the ranch? I have it some nights here. Calms seeing
and doesn't block all that many photons so rather a good thing for me
when I get some smoke. I don't want the fires however, just enough smoke
to calm seeing.

Correct domain name is arvig and it is net not com. Prefix is correct.
Third character is a zero rather than a capital "Oh".

no no: that is 2 hours 40 minutes.... still quite faint

the smoke is completely gone. the skies were beautiful but there's a bit of
moon...

Oops, I need to put on my computer glasses! That makes more sense!

Yeah, that is a pain. But the clouds that just covered it up are even
more of a problem! Looks like tonight is a loss.

btw Sh2-170 is the "treetop ornament" on this cosmic christmas tree:

http://www.narrowbandimaging.com/ced...2hao3_page.htm

I've been meaning to shoot it in some closeup detail for some time, but only
now have begun to try

Gorgeous shot!
