More comet McNaught photos...

Wonderful pictures as usual Pete.

Had a great view of it last night but cloud intervened at about 16.50,
so didn't get quite a dark enough sky for it to be naked eye
spectacular. With 10x50 bins though, magnificent. Have to be grateful
to have seen it at all with all the foul weather chugging in from the
west these days.

I have the impression that this comet is quite small - smaller than
Hale Bopp was? Not sure if that's true or just because skies were not
dark, whereas we had Hale Bopp above the horizon for several hours
after sunset. I'm not detracting from McNaught though ... very
beautiful object, looking remote and untouchable against the
terrestrial landscape. It really makes you understand why people used
to get superstitious about these things!

It certainly is a lovely sight!

I've just had another glimpse before the clouds rolled in here in Cambridge.

Even the school I went to today with the planetarium were well impressed
that they may be able to see a comet!

Isn't astronomy Brilliant!

What azimuth at about dawn time, about 70 degrees East ?
I don't have any high ground to the east of me

Wonderful images. Thanks for sharing, and for including details on the
photos. I will try to view it here tonight, but I think the cluttered
horizon/cloudy weather will frustrate my attempt.

How long will we be able to see the Comet for? And what is the best time
to see it? I'm just hoping this blanket of cloud disappears before it
goes out of sight.
