It often happens that many announce the insight of Galileo where the satellites of Jupiter run their circuit around their parent planet as one of the great advancements in reasoning and interpretation but presently they also use the insight to diminish Christianity via the failings of the denominational Churches.

The 21st century version is even lovelier as Mercury is seen to move in front of the Sun and is not becoming brighter as it shows more of its illuminated face to us on a slower moving Earth.

"My dear Kepler, I wish that we might laugh at the remarkable stupidity of the common herd. What do you have to say about the principal philosophers of this academy who are filled with the stubbornness of an asp and do not want to look at either the planets, the moon or the telescope, even though I have freely and deliberately offered them the opportunity a thousand times? Truly, just as the asp stops its ears, so do these philosophers shut their eyes to the light of truth." Galileo

I do not believe that people are stupid individually or collectively, however, some have differing reasons for not accepting the full narrative where the direct/retrograde motions of the planets are not homogeneous but are split between the faster and slower moving planets seen from Earth. Observers on Mars will some day recognise that this is transferable as the Earth becomes a faster moving planet while the slower moving planets will show the same illusory loop traits.

Give the credit to the people who built the SOHO satellite if needs be for it is the modern version of the telescope that Galileo used in introducing a new tool to astronomy.

It wasn't Lutherans who brought Galileo before the Inquisition.

True. But Luther was in full agreement with the pope and the Catholic
church that Copernicus was a dangerous heretic. So in that respect
the Lutherans were no better than the Catholics. If Galileo had been
active in a Lutheran country he surely would have been punished by
the Lutherans.

Yes, that's true. Luther said of Copernicus that he was a fool who would turn
the whole science of astronomy upside-down. But the point is that the
persecution of Galileo is not among the faults of the "denominational Churches",
a phrase the OP uses apparently with the meaning of non-Roman Catholic churches.

IIRC (and I do), Revolutions was dedicated to the Pope. Which
required permission from the Pope. Which seems an odd thing for the
Pope to do if he felt that Copernicus was a dangerous heretic. What
is the source of your claim?

Those who would point in the direction of Galileo as a great innovator by use of a telescope in describing the motions of Jupiter's satellites have nothing to say about the 21st century planetary version where Venus and Mercury are see to run their faster and smaller circuits of the Sun seen from a slower moving Earth. Galileo's interpretations were well deserved yet the contemporary version has been so long rejected in this forum while only being half explained elsewhere.

https://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data...current_c3.gif

Mercury was becoming brighter towards the end of the time lapse footage for reasons most students would understand and the use of Jupiter's satellites would be complimentary to the planetary version of the same motions.

Galileo did not correctly identify that planetary direct/retrograde motions are not homogeneous so a necessary partitioning is required. The key yo the faster moving planets is accounting for the change in position of the background stars thereby allowing the faster planets to move faster than the change in position of the stars when travelling in front of the Sun and in the opposite direction when traveling behind the Sun.

Nobody here has the stature for anything else only historical revisionism using historical characters yet have no appreciation for the technical arguments held by these people.
