Image of Mars from last night
My first attempt at Mars, from early this morning. I didn't expect
refraction to be such a problem visually, but you can deal with it during processing. Mars was dodging the chimney of my neighbour's house, and such a position probably didn't do much for the seeing (which was v.poor - slow, undulating waves of unstable air). It's off to the countryside next time I think... The LH image is an RGB composite, 300 frames of video from a toucam stacked with Registax. The RH image is a harder image process (a bit more detail in the S Polar cap. The middle image is for orientation - cut from Starry Night Pro (pity you can't get the labels to show up). Oh, and the scope was my 12" Newt. http://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~chrish/mars030803.jpg ChrisH UK Astro Ads: http://www.UKAstroAds.co.uk |

Nice one Chris
I had a crack at it this morning with the FS128 and 4x Powermate. I coupled this to the camera I use for the sun, and managed an image. If you are interested http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~ke...ervations.html It is a singl eshot with a small pshop tweak , but close to nothing. IF the damn ting woukd just sit still grrhhhhhh!
