Default Some solar flares may be caused by dark matter

Although I'm still skeptical about the entire premise of Dark Matter, at
least these guys are attempting to apply the theorized particles towards
a useful explanation of an existing phenomenon. I mean a useful
phenomenon other than simply trying to reconcile galactic velocity
curves, that is.

Some solar flares may be caused by dark matter - space - 22 August 2008
- New Scientist Space
"Solar flares are sudden changes in the Sun's brightness thought to be
caused when twisted magnetic fields on the Sun snap and reconnect
explosively.

But they could also be caused by dark matter, the mysterious entity that
makes up most of the universe's mass – if it is made up of theoretical
particles called axions."
