Default The Universe Was Created For The Glory Of God

That may well be true. But disproof of a particular oversimplified
picture of God is not necessarily disproof of the existence of God.

Why is there a Universe at all? Why is there something instead of
nothing? After all, in our experience, most somethings cost time and
effort - and materials. They don't come for free. Why should a whole
big Universe have just happened?

Maybe some kind of thinking mind is a more natural thing to exist first
than a material Universe. That does contradict experience, because
brains need to be designed by eons of evolution, and computers by
conscious effort. But the reality we see may not be ultimate reality.

To want beauty instead of barrenness, harmony instead of emptiness, and
companionship with other minds instead of loneliness, is not the result
of an insane egotism.

There are other reasons for subjecting the idea of the existence of God
to severe criticism - the "Problem of Evil", for one - but the fact
that some sacred writings, at pains to establish the superiority and
majesty of God, end up making Him look like an insufferable egotist, to
me seems like a rather minor reason.

An unknown God cannot be obeyed. Atheists and believers in a totally
unknown God should end up living their lives the same way.

Can God be younger than the universe? If he is younger, that would imply
that he didn't create it. Most people use God and Creator as synonyms, but
are they really synonyms? If I remember Greek mythology correctly, the
titans were older than Zeus who was the king of the gods. Can gods have
children and be replaced by their children?
