SRU The Meade GFT, is the 'best' tripod around for the price. I use one on my NS11. The latter 'CGE' tripod from Celestron, is second only to this, but is slightly lighter. Going away from telescope tripods, the GRP 'surveyors' tripods, sold for the heavier laser rangefinders, are excellent, but usually require a lot more work to adapt to a telescope. These give slightly better damping than either of the metal surveyors tripods. Wooden tripods based on a straight grained timber (like Ash), can also be very good. Best Wishes |
