SYDNEY, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- A new climate change study in Australia
predicted the country will be 5 degrees Celsius hotter and 40- to 80
percent drier by the year 2070.


The joint assessment by Australia's weather agencies and the
Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization change
report said cities like Adelaide, Darwin and Perth will see a
significant increase in the number of days per year above 35 degrees
Celsius -- 95 degrees Fahrenheit -- by 2030. The study forecasts an
average rise in temperatures by then of 1 degree Celsius, compared to
1990 averages.


The report, Climate Change in Australia, also said higher greenhouse
gas levels will mean more frequent days of extreme high temperatures
and reduced rainfall all across Australia.


It said eastern areas will face 40 percent more drought months by
2070
while drought months will increase by 80 percent in southwestern
Australia.

I think the posted article is important, but I don't see anything in
the article itself over
"greediness & villainy" being responsible for Australia's plight.

How much are Australia's leaders ( and the leaders of the US too, of
course) "greedy" and "villainous," and how much are they simply
trapped in a bad economic system, one that pushes them against their
better judgment to sacrifice the health of the climate and the global
ecosystem for some temporary profits today?

I mean - is it really JOHN HOWARD who is running Australia? Or does
Howard have to answer to, and please, an Australian corporate elite
that makes progress of AGW control difficult to impossible?

And the same with the Bush regime here in the US. It's very tempting
to think of George Bush and Dick Cheney as two arrogant idiots who
have single-handedly wrecked US foreign policy for the sake of the oil
industry -- but it HAS BEEN at least partly for the sake of the oil
industry, and for the sake of what Bush calls "the American way of
life."

Rather than throw brickbats at the politicians for "greedy" and
"villainy," shouldn't we be paying at least some heed to the economic
system that the politicians are defending?

And if we want less greedy and villainous policies, don't we have to
be thinking about how to change that underlying system, and not merely
its outer trappings and symptoms?

a car can make electricity from it's own weight and spring balances as

as roads are not German. Who knows. Each man should make clean energy
himself
and problem solved. The way to do it is expand weight changes on much
wider spaces,
so the pressure down expands to less than a millimeter, but what is
pressed down is
equal to the weight of the car, over a kilowatt per second. Now of
course Hong Kong
is in advantage for such technologies.
