Default Dark site in Victoria, Australia

May I have advise on the specific location good for astrophotography in
Victoria, Australia?
Preferrably within 2 hours drive from Melbourne.

I will come to Melbourne on Dec 26 and planned to stay 2 weeks there. It
could be my first time ever to take astrophotography in southern hemisphere.
I've never seen the spectucular night show such as Eta Carina, Crux, NGC104,
LMC/SMC and so on.

Thanks.

I suggest you email the local astronomy clubs IMMEDIATELY to get
suggestions. As I type this it is already 00:25 hours on December 24 *
and once today is gone your chances of getting a response decline
rapidly as most people will be combining Xmas & New Year with their
annual summer holidays.

I don't live in Melbourne but I'd suggest the following clubs:

http://www.astromelb.i.net.au/

http://www.peninsula.hotkey.net.au/~aggro/

* We're way ahead of all you slowcoaches in Europe & America due to
(among other things) the International Date Line :-)
