The manual is referring to the layout on the CGE series scopes, that do have 'AUX' ports. However the signalling used on these, is the same 'data', as is fed to the servo motors on your scope. My 'guess', is that there is an optional adapter cable, which plugs in to perhaps the 'Dec' motor port, and then offers the extra socket. Your scope is meant to be able to drive the GPS module, and an email to Celestron after the weekend, should find how this is meant to be done. Best Wishes |

"Dennis K." wrote in message ... Hi Roger, thanx for that. Yes, i was irritated, since the CN16 GPS Manual just talks about the NexStar 5i, 8i and CGE Model, but my manual and the celestron product desciption for my telescope also talks about that GPS Module: http://www.celestron.com/prod_pgs/tel/c8sgt.htm quote: "The Advanced GT Series telescopes include these high performance features: GPS-compatible with optional CN16 GPS Accessory (#93963) " anyhow, I wrote celestron an email now. Lets see what they mean.... cheers Dennis It is a definate case of the problem of producing new models, and then not looking at the 'interactions' here, or keeping their nomenclature the same.... :-) They list an adapter for increasing the number of 'aux' ports available, and the more I think about the signalling (the aux ports, use exactly the same signal connections as the handcontroller port - you can actually plug the handcontroller into the 'aux' port if required), so my suspicion now is that this adapter is effectively a 'Y' connector, and on your scope will be used into the handcontroller port. The motor port, though it has the right serial data, has 12v, rather than 5v power. On a scale of 0-10, the documentation on this rates a sub zero score!...
