rest of mail that prematurely sent....heppens frequently....

Schmidt Cassegrain, 2000mm focal length, 8in aperature, f-10 focal ratio,
125x mag with 25mm kellner, 450x max clear viewing!!! celestron......
Celestron Equatorial Wedge and tripod, motor drive. I love it. Some cool
sightings, Andromeda, among other galaxies, colors on mars including ice
caps and grey valleys and peach sunlit mountain contrasts, most all moons of
jupiter, saturn, jovian belts, rings at quite a few phases, and even split
the rings, split binary stars, great nebula, some star clusters, the man on

am i missing something or is my barlow just
wierd because its variable? ill be the first to admit its wierd,

however, i
bought it a time when variable wasnt a sin to me, not variable means

dummy,
haha...

The magnification effect of a Barlow depends on the distance the actual

Barlow
lens itself is from the eyepiece. If you just stick the eyepiece in the

back
of the Barlow (as is done on Newtonians for example), you get one power
amplification. However, if you take that same Barlow and stick it into

the
front of the star diagonal between the telescope and the star diagonal,

you
have now increased the distance between the Barlow's lens and the point

where
the eyepiece is. Depending on the focal length of the telescope, this

usually
ends up increasing the magnifying effect. Usually, a 2x Barlow placed in
front of the star diagonal will often end up providing a 2.5x or even a 3x
magnifying effect (it depends on the listed focal length of the Barlow and

its
physical tube length). Clear skies to you.
