Default Reasonable price 4 Rukl Moon Atlas?

what happened to the heavily tauted S&T reissue? Is the author behind all of
this? Reason I ask is quite simple: the whole atlas used tobe on a website
free -
downloadable! Then all hell broke lose, threats of lawsuits from the author,
the website dumped Rukl, then more threats fromthe auithor over them still
keeping references to Rukl .... what's going on with this Masterpiece?

Anybody have a clue as to what a reasonable/fair price would be to pay for
an essentially new, never used copy of A. Rukl's- Atlas of the Moon, with
dust jacket?

I'm finding prices of $300-600 US on some of these used book web sites.
Does anyone really pay this kind of money for these things?

Thanks,

Are we talking about the book "Atlas of the Moon" by Antonin Rukl, published
by Kalmbach Books? If we are then - wow, I didn't know I owned a book which
are worth so much :-).

Why on Earth is it considered so valuable? It's a nice enough lunar atlas,
but nothing "exceptional", surely?

I'm the one that posted the original question. Apparently from what I can
tell, is that because it is out of print and there is some question as to
whether it will ever be printed again in my or your lifetime, that there are
those that are willing to pay some big bucks for the book.

I've seen prices as high as $450-600 US on a couple of book collector sites.
No way would be willing to pay that kind of money.

Like you said, it's a nice book, but not that nice.

Good day,
Francis Marion

There have been long delays, but it is eventually coming. S&T put Gary
Seronik on it, helping work out the details and get it all ready. Gary's
pretty good about getting things done, and following through. He's not in
control of everything, but I would be surprised if it takes more than
another year.

When I first saw the message I almost dismissed it until I saw
a hundreds of dollars listing on Amazon. I didn't even consider
it was the same lunar atlas mostly collecting dust on my book
shelf. I guess if we can have Tulips, Emus, and dot-coms, we
can have Rukls.

Well Chris,
It's about supply and demand. No supply + some demand= Increase in value.
It's called capitalism.

I suspect one should Be careful of Amazon. From what I have , they sometmes seem to act as a broker for
various bookstores and book finding services, and there is little control on the prices these sources
ask, as far as I can tell, and there have been instances, I am told, of the used book price asked being
very much higher than the new price, even when the book is available elsewhere new. This, if true, would
help explain the high prices being asked for a new Rukl. Please correct me if I am wrong; I am not a book
expert.

You've seen copies at that price, but how many buyers have you seen at
that price? It's quite possible for something to be priced so high
that it's worthless.
