Hi Kev,
Will do. Due to arrive tomorrow, but here in Burnley is persisting down

it looks like it's set for a couple days so may be a while before I can
seriously road test it. My appologies to everyone in the north of England
for annoying the rain Gods!

It's persisting down in the east here as well but is looking good for
tomorrow and Thursday nights. Can't remember what it said about over
there in the far west but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :-)

You know how Sunday was a nice sunny day in the morning, (and the NYMR steam
gala was on), well, I decided to do some solar stuff and then left the scope
out all nicely aligned. (This is my Vixen SP102M with the Solarview 50).
Needless to say I was on a train at Goathland when the heavens opened. I was
*very* relieved that when I got home it had only spotted a bit.

I can imagine, I've had a few sleeps since Sunday so have no hope of
remembering what it was like here :-)

Wonderful clear sky here and two clear nights predicted and my
telescope arrived this morning. There will be a bright moon but I'm
hoping to be able to see something.

Default Advice on telescopes

If on a budget consider second hand
With others switching to computer
controlled there are bargins
Astro photo is expensive but a cannon 300d body from ebay with faulty
focussing coupled to my 8 in sc gives good nebula on 2min exposure all
under your budget

Thanks Pete,
at the end of the day I've decided on a skywatcher explorer 200 witheq5
mount and synscan goto system. It arrives in 2 days, can't wait!!!

Mike, great to hear you've ordered - as Mike D says, shame about the
weather...

Could you be so kind as to let me know via this thread how it works when
you get it.
I'm still trying to decide between that, and a Celestron C8-N GT

Basically I'm after an 8" - so its light enough to be portable into the
moors from home (scarbro') but still be study enough to do imaging.

Best wishes

Kev Lawrence
