No way any $500 EQ scope is going to have as nice of views as a $500
Dob. You'd be comparing an 8-10" Dob to a 4.25-6" EQ Newt, which would have constantly dancing images on the spaghetti GEM head. Mike, the cost of mounts has fallen to the point where there are several good 8 inch newts only a bit more expensive than their Dob counterparts. orion is the best example of this, selling their 8" EQ for only 100 more than the Dob. I feel that Orion's integrated digital setting circles have leveled the field somewhat. Capt RB |
