ADMINISTRIVIA: problems with spam-block addresses
Dear s.a.r. readers,
it's been pointed out that the moderators.isc.org mail systems that relay s.a.r. postings from your news server to the moderators have started to reject postings with invalid domains in the From: header (e.g. '). This means that postings with such headers may fail to get to us -- what's more, they may fail silently and without warning, depending on how your news posting system is set up. We have no control over the (several) hosts that service the moderators.isc.org address, so there's not much we can do about this. For the moment, if you want to send spam-blocked postings, please e-mail them directly to the submission address: sci.astro.research (at) slimy.greenend.org.uk Please be aware that if you do use an invalid e-mail address in your postings, you will most likely not receive notification if your posting has been rejected or if editing has been requested. There is currently no queue of s.a.r. postings awaiting approval. If you have sent something in the last few days and it hasn't appeared, this is probably because you've fallen foul of the moderators.isc.org change, in which case we encourage you to send your posting again. Thanks, sci.astro.research moderators. |

One way around this might be to only spam block the part before the "@", but leave the part after it correct. Hans Aberg |

ADMINISTRIVIA: problems with spam-block addresses
[Mod. note: I'd like to draw discussion of spam-blocks to a close
here, as it's off-topic. Thanks to those who sent helpful suggestions on how to get around the problem -- mjh] In message , Hans Aberg writes In article , Moderators wrote: Dear s.a.r. readers, it's been pointed out that the moderators.isc.org mail systems that relay s.a.r. postings from your news server to the moderators have started to reject postings with invalid domains in the From: header (e.g. '). Isn't the advantage of using something like tha t it is recognised as an invalid address, so even if a spammer uses it, it won't be propagated? I don't see mail to but I still have to clear it out of my mailbox. -- "It is written in mathematical language" |
