The Brits didn't threaten to nuke Boston when the IRA were bombing
London even though there was ample evidence to show that the USA was
funding terrorism. Be calm. Londoners were calm in the 1980s even when
they crunched into work across the glass from the previous days bombs.

We must not let terrorism undermine our belief in civilisation. Only
the judiciary should be allowed to imprison people, there should be
judicial appeals and politicians and the military must not be given
arbitrary powers. Those who jettison civilised society to fight the
'war on terror' are either cynical of cowardly.
