Default Thread sizes on Meade tripod ?

Can anyone confirm the threads on the top plate of a LX200/LX90 tripod
?

The centre bolt could be a 1/2" Whitworth, and the outer 6 holes could
be 5/16" whitworths ?

Cheers

Your sizes are correct, the thread is UNC, same number of TPI as Whitworth
different pitch.

I know nothing about telescopes but I do know about threads.

If it is 1/2" dia - and I have no way of knowing otherwise - and the
scope is made in the USA it is most likely to be 13 TPI UNC form (60°).
The 5/16 would be 18 TPI.

'pitch' is simply the reciprocal of the TPIi. What Azz was trying to say
is that the thread form is different - Whitworth is 55°. It so happens
that the UNC series _generally_ have the same TPI as the Whitworth
series, 1/2" is one of the few exceptions, Whitworth is 12.
