My employer produced the following news release. I haven't tried the
App myself, but I'd welcome reports from users. The download link is

As this summer's total solar eclipse rapidly approaches, we wanted to
share a new, free mobile app developed by SAO's advancement team to
give users an interactive guide to this rare and exciting event.

The Smithsonian Eclipse App can be downloaded from iTunes and Google
Play and includes features like:

- An interactive eclipse map that allows users to calculate their
view of the eclipse from anywhere in the U.S.

- Eclipse simulator, with views from the user's location here on
Earth, and from space.

- Near-live views of the sun from our SDO telescope.

- Direct feed to NASA's streaming content the day of the eclipse.

- Eclipse viewing and safety guide.

- Content about Smithsonian's century+ worth of solar research and
current work.
