Default Yellow squares near top of boosters disappear right before launch, why?

I guess someone has noticed this...
Why are these squares yellow-orange there during the integration
and checkout on the pad?
Then from the launch day images, you see they are now gone, there are
now white squares at this location.
Why do the yellow color disappear, and what are behind the squares,
what is going on here....?

I think that's where the destruct charges are installed once they get
to the pad, but I might be wrong.
