http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2012/08/where-the-minut... You are such strange people. The system which ties the 24 hour AM/PM cycle to the Lat/Long system of our planet is based on the average length of time of rotations across 4 orbital circuits with a minor discontinuity that takes a lot of explaining. Not a single individual has shown the slightest interest in how all the pieces fit together, including the historical development or the technical issues. The way it works out is fascinating and no less so in explaining why the natural noon cycles vary. The curiosity achievement is presently an engineering one and unless this issues is resolved decisively, that is all it will remain. |
