SETI versus UFOLOGY: An Illustrated Lecture by Stanton T. Friedman

On Saturday, October 9, the Intruders Foundation presents its opening
seminar of the 2004-2005 season at the new ARE Center on West 30th St.
It will feature a presentation by author, nuclear physicist, and
prominent UFO researcher, Stanton Friedman.

Stan Friedman, a resident of Canada, is internationally known as "The
Flying Saucer Physicist." He received his BS and MS degrees in physics
from the University of Chicago in 1955 and 1956, and for over 14 years
worked on the development of a wide variety of classified advanced
nuclear and space systems for companies such as GE, GM, Westinghouse,
McDonnell Douglas, and Aerojet General. He has lectured internationally
on his UFO research since the 1960s, and in the mid-1970s began an
extensive civilian investigation of the crashed flying saucers near
Roswell, NM in 1947, a fascinating project that is still in process.
Stanton has authored and co-authored books on Majestic 12 and Roswell,
respectively, and has spoken at more than 600 colleges and over 100
professional groups throughout the world. He has also appeared on
hundreds of TV and radio programs and helped produce numerous UFO
documentaries.

Concerning the topic of the upcoming seminar, Mr. Friedman comments,
"Although SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) has been
getting a free ride from the popular press and the scientific community,
a closer examination of its assumptions (there is no evidence to
examine) clearly indicates it is basically a cult movement with the
acronym really standing for Silly Effort To Investigate. Ufology
traditionally gets a very hard time from the press and the scientific
community, but, in contrast with SETI, has facts and data that lead
directly to the conclusion that some UFOs are alien spacecraft and that
there is a Cosmic Watergate. It is useful to note the contrasting
underlying assumptions of SETI and ufology. Unfortunately, it appears
that SETI proponents are totally unwilling to review the UFO evidence
and are suffering from the Crown of Creation Syndrome. Our current
methods of long distance communication and travel seem to them to be in
the forefront of those of all life in the galaxy despite the fact that
we have only had advanced flight, electronics, and nuclear technologies
for roughly a century and that there are sun-like stars just down the
street which are a billion years older than the sun. It is time to
realize that the emperors of SETI have no clothes."

This from a guy holding a fantasy convention on UFOs and people who've been
"abducted"?

This just in: Bigfoot is skeptical that the Loch Ness Monster exists.

As was said before, but will be said again since you have memory
problems sociopath, you are too stupid to know the difference between
what is real from what is not real. Afterall you support the
pseudoscience of SETI who not a single shred of evidence to support
their theory of 'extraterrestrial communication methods' moron.

Friedman is, just like his name indicates, fried. A UFO industry
huckster, out to do nothing more than make money off the gullible.
The SETI organization, on the other hand, are not making a thin
dime off of their efforts and mostly rely on donations to keep the
project going.
The SETI project is a very noble undertaking, and has a good
possibility, in time, to answer one of the greatest mysteries of
history--"Are we alone?". And as time goes on, the search will
become more advanced, right along with advances in science
in general. As I am one of those who believes we are NOT
alone(but never before visited), not even in our own region
of the Milky Way galaxy, I am certain that one fine day an
unmistakably artificial signal of some sort will be discovered.
I just hope I am around to see that day.

Don't compare Stanton Friedman's shady career to that of the
hard working SETI scientists. That's like comparing the clownish
"Pro" Wrestlers to the modern day gladiators who labor in the
great National Football League. A *real* stretch.

Only a moron would ask IS for something as mundane as "proof." After all
he deals in the fascinating unknown... not the boring "known". As we know,
he has discovered fractals still unknown to the world, and knows more about
black holes and the nature of galaxies than Stephen Hawking. Here you have
a chance to learn at the feet of the master, and you ask for something as
silly as "proof"? Shame on you.

I hate that the sci-fi channel puts on the jerk that "communicates" with the
dead and all the ufo garbage. I was thinking about writing them and
requesting they change the name to Pseudo-Sci-Fi channel.
