40F here in the valley at 11:00 AM PST. Low 35F. Expected high 52F.
Partly cloudy but the sun is out. Not raining. Calm. Humidity 98%. Where is the Florida weatherman? Bought 6 Hormel microwavable entrees yesterday for $1 each, regularly $3.29. Shared 3 with Kim last night who heated them up at the local Chevron store. This morning I bought her a Kaiser roll with cheese and jalapeno peppers on top. Beautiful day for January. Double-A |

41F at 11:00 AM PST here in land of the Fighting Ducks! But it feels
much warmer with the sun out with its warming rays. Low 36F. Expected high 52F. No rain. No wind. Humidity 93%. A glorious day for January! The voters in Oregon have just passed an income tax increase to "soak the rich" and corporations here. The top bracket percentage will increase above the current 10% (already extremely high compared to other states) for those making over $250,000 per year. Keep in mind that a quarter Mil is not what it used to be. Hard to keep the Rolls polished and the furniture at the mansion dusted every day on that! Couldn't find in the newspaper article exactly bow much the top bracket will be. I guess the reporters they have left at the Oregonian aren't literate enough to actually read the bill to find the pertinent details. The corporate minimum tax has been increased from the current $10. Again, the newspaper was unable to come up with what the new minimum will be. But this means that the state will be able to tax all those corporations that are currently losing their asses in this depressionary economy! The schools will be saved! To bad there won't me any jobs in Oregon when the students graduate! The rich already avoid living in Oregon because of the high state income tax here. All you have to do is move across the river to Washington state where is no state income tax at all! Property taxes are lower there too. And then they drive across the bridge to the big shopping mall right over on the Oregon side of the river to shop where they pay no sales tax! And here you thought only the poor worked the system! The paper stated that this was the first state income tax hike since the 1930s. I guess their reporters are too young to remember the income tax "surcharge" imposed on us top bracket payers back in the 1980s. It raised the actual marginal rate to about 11%. That is one of the reasons I could not quite save enough money to tide me over from the time I finally "burned out" until the time I could start drawing Social Security. (I tried because I could feel the day coming.) That and a spendthrift wife! Double-A |

I think I would get something like that come December. Did you go for gov. housing? May application's in the hopper. But to get immediate government subsidized housing, I would have to have a documentable income. That could be SS, welfare (if I were eligible), wages from a job, or from another source such as dividends, rents, royalties, producing oil fields I might own, etc. As taxes go up for the well off they will vote for the death list, and its Tang time * *TreBert G=EMC^2 We already have a "Death with Dignity" law her in Oregon that allows doctors to write the fatal prescriptions. It only takes one more legal step to introduce euthanasia (compulsory death with dignity). Jack Kevorkian is out of jail! Perhaps we can bring him in to head up our new Death with Dignity Enforcement Division! Double-A |

The “fully insured status” requirement.
I'm ONE quarter short of the the 40 I need* to get “Retirement Insurance Benefits” ( Social Security checks ). [ *: the “fully insured status” requirement is explained he https://s044a90.ssa.gov/apps10/poms....x/0300301105#b ] If I lived to 62 ( I'm 50 now ) and I wan't disabled, I'd have a reason to pay in one more quarter, obviously. |

Well, declare your income for one quarter and pay your tax! Self- employment counts, and you get to pay in twice as much! You might still be in the zero income tax bracket. Double-A |
