Will there be a councilman's debate?

A cool 58F again here today as of 1:00 PM PDT here in Gresham. Light rain showers come and go.

Tonight is the VP candidates debate. I'm pondering if I should vote for any Pres. candidates at all, since I don't like any of them! The Libertarians have a fine tradition that you should be able to vote "None of the above."

Currently 59F as of 12 noon PDT here in Gresham. Chance of rain.

Nice lunch with Kim yesterday at the buffet. She has an idea of starting Korean fast food restaurants here in Oregon like the have in Hawaii.

I checked out the senior center across form the Gresham transit center. Yes, Wi-Fi is available and places to sit.

I bet you're glad you're no longer in Florida, Bert! Hurricane Mathew. First to hit in 11 years. I guess global climate change is back on again! Maybe Al Gore should be back on the ballot!

I hear there have been rumblings beneath the Salton Sea! Better watch out, Bert. LA could be in for the big one! T ere has already een a small quak e near here a co ple days ago!

Temperature has been flatlining here in Gresham. Currently 58F as of 1:00 PM PDT. Lifht rain this AM. But expecting a little warmer the next couple days.

Got the number of the guy Kim knows running fast food in Hawaii. When she brought me food yesterday, I gave her that information. This could be the start of our fast food empire here in Oregon!

The places in Honolulu are called Yummy Korean BBQ. But the guy has diversified into other food styles as well, such as burgers. He does his businesses in food courts. I always thought there might be a niche for Korean fast food! The downtown food court were we used to eat has vacant spaces, but that's not necessarily good.

Cloudy here, but dry. A balmy 62F as of 12:00 noon here in Gresham. But might make it as high as 70F later in the afternoon.

Mt. Hood looms much larger were I am living now. Many things there are named after it: Mt. Hood Community College, The Hood Theater, and Hood Drive. Some things have been named after the east wind too, such as the East Wind Apartments. The east wind is the dominant wind there in the winter. In summer it is nice though, and stays a little cooler than downtown Portland.

Today I am back over in the Cedar Mills Library, since I don't have my Multnomah County library card yet. After lunch with Kim downtown, I came up here. It is currently 51F here with a slight sprinkling of rain starting. Should be dry again in a couple day.

A few days ago I walked over to the Mt. Hood Community College campus. I spent 2 years in school there. Much has changed, but old memories still remain.

"The years run too short and the days too fast
The things you lean on are the things that don't last
Well it's just now and then my line gets cast into these
Time passages
There's something back here that you left behind
Oh time passages
Buy me a ticket on the last train home tonight

A girl comes towards you
You once used to know
You reach out your hand
But you're all alone, in these
Time passages
I know you're in there, you're just out of sight
Time passages
Buy me a ticket on the last train home tonight" - Al Stewart

At first I felt a little lost, but then I came upon a spot I clearly remembered. It was where I had gone out there and watched a speech by then President Jimmy Carter in the late 70's. He was the first President I had seen in person! A helicopter brought him in, and Iranian students hiding their faces were demonstrating against the Shaw of Iran.

I finally found the lake that they made by damming up the local creek. I once drove a car across that dam! But if I were to try it now, I would run into a fence. I now must give up any hope of wetting a line in that trout stocked pond, as fishing is now limited to those under 17. Well, that's how I always thought it should be.

I found the basketball court with the dome shaped roof. It is a paraboloid shaped roof which gives an interesting echoic effect at its center. They have wisely covered much of the ceiling with acoustic tile.

There used to be tables and chairs on the east side where students could sit. But now it's all basketball floor. That's were I used to sit and talk with Greta and Susan in those pleasant times.

"The day is here,
The time has come
When I go see my darling love.
But why is she not here today
Where she has always been before?
I wait for you,
But you come not. - AA

I went to the corner of Kane Dr. and Stark St. to look for the stone mile post marker for mile 14 from Portland. It was there back in 1969 when I checked. This were set down every mile along Stark about 150 years ago. Stark led to the Stark St. Ferry, which was the only way to cross the Willamette River back then, before they built the bridges in Portland. The Community College has put up a sign at that corner and surrounded it with rocks and other landscaping. But no sign of the historic mile stone. You would think that the administrators of a college of all people would have some respect for history!

What ever happened to Al Gore? Is Progress Energy still polluting Earth's air? Is Severn Trent still selling water that byou have to boil to kill the germs in it? I'm so glad to be in Fullerton. TreBert

Kim used to have a place in Hawaii called "Shirley's Castle". Shirley was the American name she went by. She was quite a high roller back in the day!

We have come to that time of year here in Oregon when we can expect almost nothing but rain for the next 9 months! Currently raining here in Gresham and only 56F as of 1:45 PM. Don't expect much higher than 57F.

The Oregon Ducks fumbled the opening kick off, but somehow recovered it. Then on the first set play, they threw an interception! It was all down hill from there for the Ducks as the Washington Huskies took revenge for 12 years of defeats by trouncing the Ducks 70-21! The Beavers won a rare victory against Cal in OT!

Sun has come out after a foggy morning here in Gresham. Rain has let up. Was 45F this morning, now up to 54F as of 1:45 PM on its way up to a possible 61F.
The first frost cannot be far off!

Watched the debate last night. More like reality television. Who wants either one of those damaged goods?

Nice to watch Green Bay back on track!
