I think this is the dress in question

Note that this isn't the only picture of her with the "deer in the
headlights" look.

To be fair, she was standing between George Bush Sr. & Barbara Bush, and
I suspect was there in a "and if anything screws up, on your head be it"
role. Any combination of those circumstances would cause me to debate
the wisdom of having had breakfast...

Moral of the story: Make sure that if your name comes up in news
reports that whomever is handling your media relations has a
respectable-looking picture of you, and not some embarassing file photo.

Indeed...

exactly Raquel Welch suited up for "Fantastic Voyage", either. They were,
however, a bit more tastefully dressed than Linda Ham. I still have
nightmares about that dress I saw her in that appeared to have been made
from an old semaphore flag.

Is that the famous "terrified look" one?

From "Spaceflight Now?" Yep, that'd be the one:

Yeah, this is what they cropped it from. I hadn't seen this before. Now I
know why she looks like that.

Didn't she know who was coming that day? God, check it out! Seriously.
Yeesh. She looks like she's somewhere totally other than else in this
foto.

She sure does stand out in that crowd dressed like that- why does the
dress make me think "Starfleet- command officer division"? If that's the
case, then we had better look into the possibility that Q may be
involved in the two Shuttle losses...as you remember, Challenger was
lost just after it passed Max Q.
At least that's what my bartender tells me- and as we all know,
bartenders are infallible in their insights. :-)

....That's not my take on her look. In this case, it's the "I'm so
****ing hungover that popping two vicodins and a midol is just barely
keeping me awake. Oh, and that one tab of plaid acid's what's keeping
this ghoulish grin on my face, too."

....And if Pat remembers Mercurio, the 4-D Man like I do, I'm wondering
when his wife will come looking for her dress :-)

On a slightly-related topic, did anyone notice the guy wearing the shirt

This wouldn't be the guy with the 60's beard and hair that they showed
on the Nova special, would it?

....I thought that *was* Hoffman :-P

....Both, actually. And the concept of Tammy Faye Bakker being a
trekkie is enough to make me want to go throw all my Trek memorabilia
in the dumpster.
