Default another newbie question

I have seen the Skyhawk 114M 114mm (4.5”) f/1000 Motorised
Catadioptric Newtonian Reflector for sale at Warehouse Express for 135
pounds - this seems to be a bargain in comparison to other outlets -
what's the opinion in here?. I guess my budget could be about 150 -
200 but I would rather buy new.
thanks in advance

Try http://www.collegecameras.co.uk/ , they are a bit cheaper for skywatcher
scopes, I only paid £150 (inc delivery) for a 130m. As a newbie I'm pretty
happy with it, the optics don't seem too bad for the money although the
mount on this heavier scope could be a bit sturdier. It seems good for the
money as a starter scope, and until I can afford something better.

Thanks to you and to Andy H. for the info and warnings about
warehouse. I may well go to College Cameras. They are alsoms half the
price of some retailers I've looked at.

The 114m is also available at http://www.unbeatable.co.uk/ for £113. They
only sell a few skywatcher scopes but their prices are very good (although I
have never ordered from them). I can't image you could get a better scope
for £113, but if you have more to spend then there are better available.

Have you considered the TAL-1 ? It seems to get good reviews
http://www.cloudynights.com/reviews/Tal-1.htm and college cameras have it
for £185.

Regards
Phil
