Yes, but what about the Nazi's _good_ crimes...everyone forgets those. ;-)
As far as laying siege to a place, remember what happened to Fallujah?
We threw everything at that place outside of Greek Fire and rotting
cattle corpses.

This is just about the oldest military/foreign policy mistake in the world.
Ask those foreign barbarians how increasing the numbers of the Legions worked
out for the Romans . . .

Yeah, I caught that little slip this morning.
This explains why the state is called Missouri. :-[

that allowed Marvel to get ruined by some big fat Jabba the Hut clone

heroes and upsetting the status quo will save the comic book industry.

Apparently, Galactus isn't going to be in the new FF Silver Surfer
movie, which is sort of like doing Starship Troopers sans the
powersuits, which is of course just what they did.

There are a LOT of differences between the Apaches of the 19th century and
the Iraqi insurgency of today and merely increasing troop counts won't do a
damn bit of good...

Agreed, but you'll notice that I *didn't* say "once the US Cavalry was
massively reinforced" (or even "once the US Cavalry was minimally
reinforced").

Fighting guerillas effectively does require adequate numbers -- and this
Administration has consistently ignored unpalatable estimates of how many
troops were really needed in Iraq -- but more importantly, it requires
brains and insight. Just putting more troops in country, doing more of
the same old thing, is not the answer. Whether the White House and DoD
fully grasp that fact, or are just giving it lip service, remains to be
seen...

Sonar conditions in the Med generally suck rocks. You can't kill 'em
