Default Tricolor astrophotography filters - possible to use ordinary filters?

I have been looking into taking tri-color astrophotographs using black
and white film. Initially, it looks like there is a step buy-in price
to buy a set of tri-color filters, e.g. -

Is is possible to take such tricolor photographs, at least for purpose
of initial experimentation, using less expensive ordinary filters,
e.g. -

Are there other color astrophotography options that I am over looking?
