FWD: NASA sends the Beatles to Polaris!

Seems to me "All You Need Is Love" would have been more apropos. Comments? Just as long as it isn't "Imagine," the most mindless song ever penned. That is a John Lennon song not a Beatles song. John Lennon was a Beatle. *He wrote or co-wrote most of their songs. But the song "Imagine" came out after the Beatles parted their ways. So? *What's your point? Oh. *Right. *As usual, you don't have one. The point is that if NASA is truly going to send out a Beatles song into deep space, then "Imagine" won't or wouldn't be a candidate as it is a John Lennon song. Yes, but since there is nothing to indicate that there was a requirement that the song be a Beatles song, you have no point. * Another poster suggested that a different Beatle song be used in which you chimed in about "Imagine". Just because they happen to have chosen a Beatles song doesn't mean that they couldn't have chosen a non-Beatles song. * Right, but the point was that if it was to be a Beatles song which one should it be. You incorrectly referred to a Lennon song from 1971 after the Beatles broke up. And in fact, "Across the Universe" is a *Lennon* song. *As is "All You Need Is Love." *Thus, the subject was Lennon songs, not Beatles songs. "All you Need is Love" is a Beatles Song, not just Lennon's, as is "Across the Universe", but not "Imagine". The latter came out after the Beatle broke up, thus it is a Lennon song. Being a writer of a song and the domain in which the song was written are different. There is a legal distinction between songs written by Lennon and McCartney before and after 4/70. You really are dense aren't you? No. Your level of confusion is beyond sympathetic. However, it is fun to watch you argue as if you're right when clearly you are not. |

"All you Need is Love" is a Beatles Song, not just Lennon's, as is "Across the Universe", but not "Imagine". The latter came out after the Beatle broke up, thus it is a Lennon song. All three songs were written by John Lennon. Whether or not he was with the Beatles at the time he wrote them has no bearing on the matter. |

Clearly "Imagine" is a Lennon song because it came out after 1970. The other two were written by McCartney and Lennon even if only one of then wrote it. "Band on the Run" is a McCartney song and has nothing to do with Lennon. And in that regard it is like "Imagine" as not being a Beatles song, whereas clearly "All You Need is Love" and "Across the Universe" are Beatles songs. |

First line from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_you_need_is_love Rand has no concept of the legal aspect of ownership. I suggest anyone thinking about going into to business or into a legal binding relationship (don't!) with him to understand exactly how clueless he is about roles, responsibilities and ownership when it comes to legal matters. If Lennon or McCartney or both wrote a song from when they formed the Beatles until April 1970, then said song belonged to "The Beatles". After that there was no longer a Lennon/McCartney attribution. Each was on his own. Why that is beyond you says a lot about you. |

The Beatles never perfomed the song. The ex-Beatle, John Lennon performed the song. |
