Shuttle STS-117 First Orbit
Friday June-8 9:30 PM-EDT.
Just saw the Shuttle STS-117 go over on it's first full orbit after the launch this evening. It was moving much faster than usual. This is because it hasn't reached a circular orbit yet. It must have been near perigee when it passed over my area in the northeast US. That would be the point in it's eliptical orbit where it is currently the lowest and therefore moving the fastest. There's still time for observers in the central and western US to see it go over before the orbit becomes circular. |

Aim highVice President Dick Cheney gave the commencement speech at his old high school in Casper, Wyoming, last weekend. He told graduating seniors to aim high because if they didn't, they might shoot someone in the face. bactericide
