Default ASTRO: NGC 488

NGC 488
Pisces
Penryn, California
October 2007
M 250 @ f9.3 (ag, ST-4)
ST-10XME LRGB 15 minute subs

A dim face-on spiral galaxy of type Sb with tightly wrapped spiral
arms. Sil'Chenko (1999) found evidence of a chemically de-coupled
disk (metal concentration within disk segments differed significantly)
as well as dynamical de-coupled disk with axis of rotations tilted
with respect to each other.

Needs more data. Maybe the weather will improve by the next dark
period.

Great image Glen. It's difficult to show the thin spiral arms that clear.
