But it's interesting to note that the Soviets solved the same problem in
a different manner. *They just scaled up their boosters instead of
focusing on cutting weight and creating higher performance engines. *In
the long run, they're still flying their, relatively cheaper, launch
vehicles while the US keeps iterating without reducing launch costs
much.

The Soviets had a totally different economic system. If the US had
scaled up and fondled the good old Atlas, it could have become a good,
cheap, reliable rocket, but who would have had earned much profits with
*that*?

SPACE X may have effcts far beynd space

its a awesome example of what privatising can lead too. saved
boatloads of money

Now imagine space X redo of the postal service......

everyone is getting a free computer with printer, or use the one you
already own. using a nationwide free crippled WI FI system

all postal service junk mail and lots of insignificant mail comes by
computer....

print coupons if you want.....

meanwhile the remaing postal service gets downsized dramatically going
to monday, wednesday, and friday delivery. to serve things that must
go physicaly.......

a win win for everyone, slashes costs once the free mini computers are
paid for

But is that a win? The idea on the Postal Service, I mean.
For the common man there may no benefit from improvement
in efficiency but rather a further concentration of wealth
in the very top percent of the population. Even if the
pie gets larger, if it all goes to the topside, the trickle
down may simply be more guard jobs and jails. More likely the
result will be more homelessness and shorter life spans
for the masses.
