Default "Both Sides of the Moon"

Saw this book on the new book display at a local bookstore today.
Interleaved biographies of Dave Scott and Alexi Lenov which (going by
the blurb) brings new insight into the 'Space Race' etc etc.. Has anbody
read this? is it anything new or the same ole stories? worth my $30?

Leonov is a very enjoyable character, but his
stories often are more entertaining than
historically accurate, so I'd be interested
in what new historical material -- if any -- is
presented in the book.

Ken just finished it and he really liked it. Good stories, some of
which we'd heard from Dave in person. Some new information, at least
to him.

I've read bits and pieces of it and thought it was pretty good. As
soon as I finish "Rats, Bats, and Vats" and "The Rats, the Bats, and
the Ugly".

The one discordant note is that the author is a British woman and she
puts Scott and Leonov's accounts into British English. It's just a
surprise to read All-American Dave Scott's remarks so translated.

Yes, I noticed this morning a comparison to a formula one race rather than
something like Indy.

That said, I am currently on page 164 and totally enjoying reading it.

Ah! Perhaps that explains Dave Scott's two references to his US Army Air
Corps veteran father, a post-WWI pilot, flying "Dehavilland Jennies". I'm
sure
they were Curtiss Jennies, of course.

I'm not really in a position to judge what's new, accurate or
otherwise.

I enjoyed the book alot, it's good to hear Scott's side of the Seiger cover
affair, and Leonov explains his part in the Gagarin tragedy.

I have been lucky enough to meet both men since the publication and briefly
chatted with both about the book and managed to get my copy signed.
