Default Bright Supernova near maximum in Canes Venatici

Well brightish at mag 13.6 but easily captured using the modified webcam
despite the constant twilight at night here at this time of year.

A type Ia 9 days after discovery and probably near maximum
More information here

Well done Robin - nice result as usual. Glad to see someone is
getting clear skies. Particularly impressive, as you say, seeing as
you are so far north.

Selsey's had a bad sky run. Come to think of it, ever since Andrea
Tasselli suggested keeping a sky conditions log! Never look a gift
horse in the mouth I guess. Log's going to be thrown in the sea
tonight in a special ceremony ;-)

Thanks Pete,

It is clear again tonight so I am trying for a spectrum.
BTW did you spot the "deliberate mistake". sn2005cf is in fact in Libra,
which explains why the telescope was pointing almost at rooftop level. At
least the Skysensor knew where it was supposed to be. I blame supernovae.net
who got it wrong. That is my excuse and I am sticking to it ;-)

Robin
