Comet Q4 Nestled amongst 6 Galaxies
On Aug 22 at 0305 UT, C/2001 Q4 NEAT was nestled amongst 6 galaxies
near the UMa. I have posted a simulated eyepiece view as well as a planetarium program screen shot to illustrate the position of the comet in relation to the surrounding galaxies. The comet head was easily visible in the eyepiece but the comet was only 25 degrees above the horizon when I viewed it so the tail was clearly visible. Q4 remains a fairly bright comet that should be easy viewing with scopes and binoculars. Images at http://home.att.net/~dpersyk/new.htm Thank you for visiting my site.
