So it looks like Cochrane built the Phoenix out of the Titan's second stage.
I still wanna know how he landed it.

It may well be that only the forward module returned to Earth as a
ballistic reentry vehicle- one identical to it was shown being used as a
space taxi in the "Enterprise" series pilot episode IIRC*. Somebody
commented on this here before; apparently the landing scene (however it
was done) was dropped from the movie due to time and budget constraints.

That was my thought as well.

Somebody

Now that's a real shame. It would have been glorious! Err, something.

I wouldn't trust that series to provide background noise for a slow thursday
