Crew Stows Spacewalk Equipment
Crew Stows Spacewalk Equipment
The Expedition 10 crewmembers spent time Wednesday stowing gear used during Monday's successful spacewalk. They also performed routine maintenance on International Space Station systems. During the Monday spacewalk, Commander Leroy Chiao and Flight Engineer Salizhan Sharipov set up three antennas on the International Space Station's exterior. They also deployed Nanosatellite, a small Russian experiment that is expected to help develop small satellite control techniques, monitor satellite operations and develop new attitude system sensors. Russian ground control reported Wednesday that Nanosatellite was more than 680 miles (1,100 kilometers) ahead of the Station and widening the distance by more than 18 miles (30 kilometers) every orbit. Its transmitter continues to operate normally, sending data to the ground. The Elektron oxygen generation system is still offline, due to an unplanned shutdown two weeks ago. Sharipov worked on a subsystem Wednesday. He will reactivate it Thursday to continue troubleshooting the device. Oxygen from the tank of a docked Progress spacecraft repressurized the Station's cabin atmosphere Wednesday. -- -------------- Jacques :-) www.spacepatches.info |
