bushnell [bausch & lomb] criterion 4000 telecope/lens
i recently bought a Bushnell/Bausch& Lomb Criterion 4000 telescope
with camera adapter - unfortunately the adapter was non-factory but custom made and for a camera I don't have or intend to invest in. It was advertised for pentax k-mounts, for which i have a couple camera bodies. A few weeks ago, when first looking at this model, I recall stumbling on a webpage for a company that had some parts for these legacy models, but now that I know what I am dealing with, I can't find that webpage again. I have the original manual for the scope and an 'accessory information' manual. It's all line drawings, no photos of parts etc. The manual indicates simply screwing on the cassegrain focus adapter [part #63-1049] to the rear of the scope and then screwing on one of seven listed camera adapters from the following list: 20-0001 Pentax Praktica 20-0003 Nikon F and A1 20-0004 Minolta 20-0005 Canon 20-0007 Pentax K 20-0008 Olympus OM 20-0009 Konica alternate [for higher power magnification]: 63-1013 eyepiece adapter 63-10xx selected eyepiece 63-1028 eyepiece projection tube 20-000x selected cam adapter I am trying to set this up for the pentax K-mount camera. So, my questions a How are the different camera adapters marked? do they have the above numbers like 20-0005? or perhaps a letter code like "MI" for minolta? Would the pentax k adapter be marked "PK" perhaps? Is the pentax praktica the unbiquitous "M42" threaded mount? Does anyone know a source for camera adapter parts like these? or parts for the criterion 4000 in general? |

Does anyone know a source for camera adapter parts like these? or parts for the criterion 4000 in general? my mistake.. while the accessory manual only has line drawings, the scope manual does have photos.. I forgot to mention... I have two unmarked tubes that mount on the end of the scope body the first is a simple 41-42mm diameter, 76mm long tube with a flange at one end that mounts with a flange nut to the scope body. about 3mm of the other end is threaded, I think ready for "T-Ring Adapter" of the preferred type of 35mm cam. ther second tube is a similar diameter but shorter, being only 38mm long. it has an adapter ring mounted between 2 jamb nuts. I believe this to be a custom machined setup. This adapter ring then screws onto a 'standard' camera adapter, but is for a type of camera I don't intend on buying [medium format pentax 645]. If I understand the science, I am not sure this short tube kludged setup even worked as I doubt it would focus on or fill the film frame. so, is the 76mm tube i have likely to be the standard "cassegrain focus adapter" [part #63-1049]? It looks like the photo of the camera attachment setup in the manual. I have seen no picture of anything like the 38mm long tube, which reinforces my belief that it was cut down from the longer tube. |
