OT, but a spooky concept
As I recall the cold war-winning effect of the cruise missile, it was
the HINT to the paranoid commies that every Delikat-Essen panel truck was a weapon aimed at them. We didn't actually have to build any. One of the important aspects of the MX merry-go-round was making sure that they were NOT hidden, so the evil commies would be scared, but not so much that they launched a general nuclear war. I don't think we need to go into the potential for maximum scaredness for the maximum number of people. Nils (not often visiting this group) |

I don't think we ever had a plan for a disguised version of a Tomahawk cruise missile launcher, though there was a road-mobile version: http://cache3.asset-cache.net/xc/533...1E70F2B3269972 This little design made the Russians get very nervous though: http://files.abovetopsecret.com/uplo...-747cruise.jpg Pat |

My thoughts exactly. The video screams "Rogue nation! Protect yourself from the evil United States with our new terror weapon, a cruise missile in a shipping container!". It's more of a "Al Qaeada? Can you afford a freighter? If so, we have a delivery system for your suitcase nukes." Al Qaeda then puts them on a common shipping freighter and they launch from offshore. Might work, if they do it right. But I'm not about to say what they need to do to "do it right". |
