Reading the full story in the book, it says that Givens had not been
drinking that night, and was not speeding in the car. However I do now concede that maybe there has to be a limit on who should and should not be listed on the space mirror and as such, that Ed Givens name should not be put on the mirror. Should his name be put on the mirror then that would be just cause to put Henize, Hilliard, etc on there as well. It would be sad that he be known for dying in an alcohol related accident, when if this book is correct, that is an unjust assumption. Adam. "Rusty B" wrote in message om... According to his NASA bio, Ed Givens logged more than 3,500 hours flight time; 2,800 hours in jet craft. He graduated from the USAF Experimental Flight Test Pilot School at Edwards Air Force Base, California. He was then an instructor in the Stability and Control Section. He graduated from the USAF Aerospace Research Pilot School. At Pt. Mugu Naval Air Station, California he was responsible for compiling and developing the operation procedures and tactics for fleet operation of the F8U-2N. You have to admit it seems a little odd with all the above experience, after leaving a party, he couldn't control a Volkswagen on a curve. - Rusty Barton |

There have been study(ies)* indicating that skilled drivers can make the worst drivers. To be more accurate, that racing drivers and such with experience and skills relevant to fast driving and with good reflexes 'push the envelope' when driving in normal situations. It's all part of the general trend of pushing things to the level of perceived danger that you find acceptable. The same principle has been implicated in a tendency to more careless / dangerous driving associated with improved car safety measures. * Those paying attention will now guess this post is based on half- remembered articles from a couple of magazines. ;-) |

Perhaps there should be a adjacent memorial for those who died while working on the space program. People like Givens, pad rats who died in work accidents etc. They shouldnt be forgotten...... |

Why are you having such a hard time providing the research you did *before* posting about NASA management? Could it be you didn't do any then and are hoping that, once again, others will do it for you? -- If you have had problems with Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), please contact shredder at bellsouth dot net. There may be a class-action lawsuit in the works. |
