Default Zombie Satellite Causes Astronomical Buzz

"Don't be alarmed. High above your heads, a
zombie satellite is on the loose. OK, actually,
it won't really be a bother to us earthlings. Or
at least to most of us. (More on that later.) But
the rogue communications satellite is wreaking
havoc in Earth's orbit and does threaten to
interfere with signals coming from other
satellites."

Reminds me of another satellite story. An amateur radio satellite that had
died and its soul had gone to satellite heaven, suddenly started
transmitting again after having been silent for a couple of decades. The
satellites batteries were dead but started coming back to life when its
solar panels were in sunlight, and go quite again when in the earth's
shadow. Anybody what satellite this was?
