Actually, temperature is fairly important, particularly for fine baking. In everything else, the tolerances are fairly large, though. Bread is particularly tolerant. I've recently acquired another oven, about 2,000 ft lower than the one I've used for three decades. It's quite an interesting difference between the two, probably because of both the altitude change and the oven variation. Oh, well, I'll master this one eventually. I understand you can get into trouble in the US if you're caught using kerosene in your diesel engine of your vehicle. Close, but it is heating fuel oil and diesel that differ only in taxes and dyed color. Kerosene isn't generally used as a heating fuel and isn't used in diesel engines. -- Kevin Willoughby lid Imagine that, a FROG ON-OFF switch, hardly the work for test pilots. -- Mike Collins |

Japan, of all places. And they measure power in something called PS. Anyone know how many watts in a PS? I think 1 PS = 750W, ie a "metric horsepower". A PS (Pferdestärke) is the "metric horsepower". It is defined as 75 kgf-m/s, which works out to be 736 W or 0.986 "real" HP. It's another ******* unit that is rapidly losing ground to the kW. If only we could get the HVAC people to join up. Now, Diesel and "#2 Heat" are far closer, but the heating fuel lacks mumble-Cetanes that the Diesel has. -- A host is a host from coast to & no one will talk to a host that's close........[v].(301) 56-LINUX Unless the host (that isn't close).........................pob 1433 is busy, hung or dead....................................20915-1433 |

In fact, we all agree on the number of pounds in a kilogram (0.45359237), but it turns out that the number of grams in a pound is not an exact number. It would be nice if the 0.45359237 were changed to a number whose reciprocal was also a terminating decimal. |
