Take that, metric system!

Europe has apparently called off a planned ban on 'English' units set
to take effect in 2010. Instead, they've opted for 'dual labeling'
indefinitely, merely requiring that goods marked with 'English' units
must also be marked with metric ones.

[The US has been 'dual-marking' stuff here for decades.]

Ian Parker must be biting himself in the small of the back over this

There is not only the fact of marking there is also the fact of
maintaining inventories for screws etc. The fact of the matter is that
UK manufacturing has for some time used the metric system pretty well
exclusively.

With the universal scientific acceptance of the metric system, it
seems incongrous to use anything different in a scientific discussion.
OK for discussion on relativity it is often convenient to put c=1.
