Double-A Revere beach had both a roller coaster, and the cyclone. The
cyclone was like the one in Coney Island made of wood. Because I'm
afraid of height here is a kicker I went on the Coney Island parachute
ride. Never again. When I wasa teenager I was crazier than I am now Go

The "Dipper" at Jantzen Beach was a big wooden coaster. It had some
renown in its time. Local DJ's would compete to set records of how
many times around without getting off. Of course, we had to try for
our own personal bests too! I heard that a sailor fell out of it and
died once, but I think its overall safety record was pretty good.

They tore it all down and built a big shopping center. New housing for
the yachting set was built nearby along the river.

The park was a fun place with carnival rides, a swimming pool, and a
ballroom that I understand hosted some of the famous big bands of the
30's and 40's. It left many pleasant memories, but now it is only a
memory.

Double-A
