PAPER ABOUT VLBI-GPS COMBINATION TO DETERMINE EARTH ORIENTATION PARAMETERS PUBLISHED

A paper detailing the pros and cons of combining VLBI and GPS observations to
determine Earth Orientation Parameters (EOP) co-authored by a member of the CORS
Team was recently published.

The full reference of the article is as follows:

Ray, J., J. Kouba, and Z. Altamimi, Is there utility in rigorous
combinations of VLBI and GPS EOPs?, J. of Geodesy, doi: 10.1007/
s00190-005-0007-7, 79(9), 505-511, 2005.

To Sam

There must be some perverse satisfaction in recognising that the GPS
receivers convert back to the pre-Copernican terrestial longitudes and
its heliocentric equivalent of 4 clock minutes to 1 degree Longitude
or smaller associations based on 24 hours/360 deg.

I have to promote the ancient system and its heliocentric transfer to
an audience who can no longer acknowledge that the principles which
dictate pace from a sandclock to an atomic clock have never changed
nor can the core astronomical principles which assume constant axial
rotation be severed from the principle of the equable 24 hour day.

It is apolitical,in other words the VLBI based sidereal format is a
later calendrically/celestial sphere based format whereas the Equation
of Time is strictly the Earth/Sun over an annual orbit whether
pre-Copernican or heliocentric.

Be sure to remind these cors guys that all they can ever do is look
really foolish as the core principles will remain undisturbed and
waiting for genuinely intelligent people to appreceate them.
