Was in the hospital for a week. They pumped me full of antibiotics and cleaned me up both inside and out. Am now staying in a transitional housing room in downtown Portland courtesy of the local hospitals for benefit of the homeless. Getting free medical care at a downtown clinic. Medicare is now picking up the tabs so no more huge hospital bills to hang over my head.

Kim is still on the street, but I am buying her lunch once a week at a downtown food circus. When she gets enough for a MAX train ticket, she is very mobile.

First time I've been to the library for many months. Computers mostly available. The store nearby were I used to buy snacks has closed. Guess the rumors that it was moving were true after all.

I see some of you regulars are still posting here. Hi Bert!

Software has changed. Library may be limiting me to an hour now. Can't use Portland library because I have the wrong county library card so am at Cedar Mills.

HI AA HERE I AM AT CIRCUS CIRCUS AND GETING STICK ON GETTING OLD. HOPE I BREAK A LEG,OR I'LL BE PAING 77 BUCKS A NIGHT O STA HERE. WISH ME LUCK. WAS A LONG DRIVE AND WITH ROAD CONSTUCKION A ONE LANER. 2763 MILES. UTAR WAS THE WORSE. TREBERT

Hey Bert! Good to hear from you at last. Did you buy a new laptop? Spend enough time in the casino and the hotel might give you your room for free! Casinos track your every move. They even now what you like for breakfast.. Oh, and some offer free breakfasts!

Sunny here in downtown Tigard and 81F. Patchy clouds keeping it from getting too hot.

Went to locker yesterday, paid my rent, and cleaned it up a bit. Brought home some things I could use. Having to use public transportation sure wastes a lot of time.

Today I had my weekly lunch with Kim. She brought me lots of sheets of seaweed
to eat by wrapping it around rice. That ought to enrich my iodine!

Sunny and 74F here at the Cedar Mill Library as of 1:00 PM. On a bit of a cooling trend.

Stopped at my bank downtown Portland and ordered some checks. Been getting by just using my debit card, but now that I am in the money again, I might need some checks. Can't find my old checkbook.

A woman got on the bus at eh Sunset Transit Center with a huge butt! Then the guy she was with her got on the bus, and he had an even bigger butt! They must both eat at an all you can eat restaurant!

When I walk over to Walgreens from my motel, from the street corner I get a great view of Mt. Hood.

Nice to be in Oregon!

Another lovely day here in Tigard. 78F as of 4:00 pm.

But I worry about those two hurricanes that are hitting Hawaii now. We get much of our weather from the direction of Hawaii. It is called the pineapple express. While the storms are moving northwest towards the islands, you can see on the larger scale images that the air further north is moving west to east. When the storms move further north, they could start heading our way! This happened with Typhoon Freda back in 1962. Here we remember it as the Columbus Day Storm. By the way, when did storms in the Pacific start being called hurricanes? A hard summer storm would be vary unusual for Oregon.

Yes, man's most powerful weapons are still puny compared to the forces of nature.

Sunny and a pleasant 80F here in Tigard, Oregon as of 2:00 PM.

Sunny and 84F as of 1:00 PM here in Tigard. Expected high 95F. Tomorrow 102F with chance of a thunder storm.

Blackberries are in season, but I don't get near many of them. They just sprayed and killed a big patch of them by the bus stop across from my motel. They didn't spray the adjoining ivy, although ivy has been declared Portland's weed public enemy number one!

Well you know there's a kinda govt. logic behind a decision like that. The
Blackberry bushes have thorns, which could hurt if you get pricked by them.
The ivy is just a harmless leaf. Never mind that down on their luck
foragers might pick those blackberries for food... they probably attract
bears and Ebola carrying fruit bats as well...best to get rid of them!

I would probably consider blackberries to be the number one enemy except they ingratiate themselves to us with their delicious berries. But there is no vine harder to get rid of. Poison them, and they just pop back up from the roots. They have invaded and overrun many a tract of woodland and untended farmland in this area. But their fruits are nutritious are even suspected to have some cancer fighting qualities!

Sunny, a bit hazy, and 94F here at 1:00 PM. Predicted high 100F. Could be a late storm. Perhaps there could be something to this global warming stuff after all.

Makes me long to go to a nearby waterfall spot to cool off! Used to work there as a busboy when I was only 16.

An overcast sky with foreboding clouds. Went to the clinic earlier. A few raindrops fell on me when I returned to my motel. Now at the library with umbrella in hand. 75F as of 4:00 PM.

Goodnight Robin Williams. Here was a man who had it all, great wealth, fame, and popularity. I can't think of a better reason for hanging yourself with your belt! At least you would think he could have afforded a proper rope.

I only liked him in one movie: Dead Poet's Society.

Well, nanu nanu.
