Default Falcon 9R Sports Steerable Fins

A new video has emerged that shows a flight at the MacGregor TX test site of a Falcon9R with steerable fins at both top and bottom ends of the rocket.

The fins are not solid but are grooved and movable in two planes. When in the "stowed" position they are flat to the rocket body.

Note in the following video the speed of the 9R under descent and how it appears to vary in order to test the effectiveness of the fins.

I have long speculated that fins might appear, esp. at the top end of the rocket for aerodynamic control of a descending booster. Looks like work is continuing in this area...
