I didn't start this thread. I have no idea who's involved in it, or from
which group it sprang. In short, I don't know where it's being cross-posted
to. The only thing that I -do- know is that it's probably only appropriate
for rec.birds. And considering what an idiot the original poster is, it's
probably not even appropriate for there.

IOW, "I am a lazy cuss and don't give a damn about usenet etiquette."
All the reasons you give for your crossposting are actually precise
reasons why not to crosspost. Note that I managed to post to: the ng
I am reading (sci.astro), and the ng that both you and Telemon are
reading (rec.radio.shortwave), trimming the rest, all in the span of
about 30 seconds, piece of cake. Those I wish to read what I have to
say can see my post, the rest are spared the agony.

Telamon's admonition is spot on: trolls crosspost; more sentient
beings tend to ignore them (tho' I must admit this one is fairly
amusing).

Wrong. But think what you will. What I don't really give a damn about is you
or your opinion.

You're making the simple-minded mistake of assuming that Telemon and I were
the only people participating in the thread, and that only people from those
two groups were involved. Had I cut out all of the other cross-posts as you
have, all of the other people that have participated in this thread would
have been cut off. I don't own the thread, and others were obviously
participating. I haven't checked, but it's probably safe to assume that at
least one other person from another newsgroup besides the two that you note
had involved themselves in the thread. Far be it from me to just cut people
off; I walk away, which is what I ended up doing in this case. Why cut a few
groups out, and continue the thread? Just let it die. More on that later.

Telamon's admonition is spot on: trolls crosspost; more sentient

And the -really- sharp ones among us ignore the thread when it becomes
obvious that it's inappropriate and/or unwelcome, amongst other things.
Which is, obviously, something that you were unable to make yourself do. Not
feeding the trolls is an admonition which I usually follow...but as you
said, this one was a bit amusing. The thread had died, and partly because I
let the Geranium's last post go unanswered. (And, I can assure you, that was
not an easy thing to do. Hint. g) And my previous post about cross-posting
as well as my -lack- of further continuation of the thread took even less
time than your vaunted "thirty seconds" of snipping. I accomplished all that
needed to be done, I didn't leave anyone out of the picture, and I did my
part to encourage the thread to die...which it would most likely have done
if you'd been able to exercise the self control that you seem to feel I
lack. This thread was rapidly dying of old age and neglect. You resurrected
the entire thing, or at least ensured its continuance as a ****ing contest
for a little longer, just in order to preach.

Nice going.

Which is why you responded! You are far too easy a fish. I throw you
back.

Ah, I see the problem. You think that it's all about -you-. You seem to have
forgotten that you're on Usenet; what we post, we post for the benefit of
all. I was sharing my opinion on snipping, etc. with any number of people
out there. The content of my response wasn't just for you. That's why it
went to Usenet and not your personal e-mail. This post is for you
specifically, but I'm going to let everyone else share it.

You are far too easy a fish. I throw you back.

Then you admit trolling. Shame on you.

Now. I'm going to (again) do what I tried to do in the first place, and that
is to let this thread die. Show us some of that superior netiquette of
yours, and kindly do the same.
