Default 94mm Brandon up and running

Got my dovetail tapped and drilled, so i can use the Brandon on my CG-5 mount!
The GC-5 holds the Brandon pretty well, i still get some wiggles while focusing
at over 200x, this is about as big as a scope i would want to use on the CG-5,
nothing i hate more than a mount that has the wiggles! I think a G-8 would do
better, but it would weigh more.
But this is one very sharp scope,i find the color correction to be very good,
it shows just a tiny bit more purple on the moons limb, than my Tak FS-78. I
don't notice any color on Saturn even at 400x! The 22mm and 17mm Nags really
wake this scope up to great wide field views, can't wait to get to a dark sky.
The only thing i dont care for is the focuser, i hope to adapt a Feather Touch
focuser.
I give the optics a A+!

Chas, an A+ for optics with a touch or purple on the lunar limb? Where does
that put AP ED optics and Zeiss APQs?

From what you've stated earlier here, you've got a handsome pile of cash.
Why not invest some of it and spend two months' worth of the investment
profit on a decent perch for that neat little scope?

Hi Chas,

If the Brandon 94mm is very good compared to AP, TMB, Zeiss, then so be it.
That doesn't take away from what the scope can do or from the fact that you
got a lovely little scope for a decent price. It just puts things into
proper perspective.

Now, do something about getting a good perch for that scope!

Clear Skies,

This is a older lens, i guess around 1987 to 1991? I think the color

correction
is very good, for being a F/6.8, and for its age.

So you cant compare it to the lens that Roland makes today. A tiny bit of
color on the moons limb does not bother me. And you would pay double or

more
today for a APO in it's size range, that is made today!!!
