Default Galileo and the Dutch refracting lens toy

Minor corrections: Galileo may have been the first to see the ring of
Saturn, but did not recognize it as such; He erronously concluded that
it was a triple star....so to insure his discovery, he designed a
cryptogram, which when translated said, in English, "I observed that
the highest planet was a triplet".

It was not actually recognized as a ring until circa 1656...Huyghens.

.
1610 Galileo builds a 30X telescope. He uses the telescope to make several
important astronomical discoveries, including four moons of Jupiter, the ring
of Saturn, the phases of Venus, and craters and mountains of the moon. Galileo
concludes from the irregular features of the moon that the moon is composed of
matter similar to that of earth.

.
1992 Catholic Church formally admits that Galileo's views on the solar system
are correct.

And still no apologies to this day....no penance...no remorse....
and no stipend/monetary remuneration to any of Galileo's descendants to
this day. Just a lousy statement of correctness, and that's it!
Which the whole world already knows is true. BUMMER!!
Day late and a dollar short, IMHO!
